the first brushstroke on a blank canvas
for pierrot ensemble and percussion | 5'15"
For any artist, staring at a blank slate can be an extremely daunting task. The second you paint your first dot, write your first note, or speak your first line, it feels like you cut off so many possibilities of what your art could be. But, the beautiful part of it is you unlock doors to making it your art. Every line, every dot, every flaw. With each brushstroke, your art is imbued with more and more of your personality and your creativity. No one can replicate the uniqueness of your art.
"the first brushstroke on a blank canvas" is a high energy work that depicts the beauty of creativity. It begins with a section of deep introspective thoughts symbolizing the doubt of many artists. As it picks up rhythmically, the artist is feeling more confident with each brushstroke, and the vibrant groove pulses along with the artist's creative flow. The end of the work doesn't neccesarily depict the final moments of the creative process, but it represents the calm after a whirling creative burst.
