gemini
for saxophone ensemble | 8'
Gemini is a hauntingly thrilling piece of music that is inspired by the story of Castor and Pollux from Greek mythology. Gemini is divided into two movements, I. Castor and II. Pollux. The melodies ebb and flow like the energy between the two twins, who are the stars that make up the constellation Gemini. The oscillating sounds of the saxophones throughout give the impression of twin brothers walking in perfect unison as they traverse the night sky. The music draws the audience in, creating a sense of awe and wonderment that taps into the mystical nature of the Greek gods and their stories.
