Pearsall, Texas. A small town in South Texas shaped by a vast Latino community and a vibrant Tejano spirit. The hometown of my father and a place that defined my childhood. I returned there often while growing up: visiting my abuelo, running along red dirt roads with my cousins, and forming some of the most enduring memories of my youth.

“piosol” is a reflection of those moments, filtered through nostalgia, love, and distance. While the piece is not strictly mariachi or conjunto, the essence of those styles is woven throughout, refracted through rhythmic motifs and familiar harmonic colors. These elements coexist with contemporary sounds, tracing the journey my life has taken beyond Pearsall, yet always anchored by it. In this way, “piosol” becomes both a remembrance and a continuation of the place that shaped me.

The picture on the cover is a photograph of my grandfather’s conjunto group “Los Campesinos de South Texas.” A huge inspiration for this piece.
